The Six Mega Pixel Shoot out- Photos taken with panasonic lumix digital camera.Pictures of flowers,rope knot,ant,clouds over the sun etc...

An amateur gallery, but photographed with the intention of reviewing and testing the new digital camera got- the panasonic lumix. tried to take some photos in macro, close up and landscape modes.Just watch the photos of knot in rope, a rain droplet,small violet flower, ant sitting on the flower petal, the orange Dalia flower etc.

Took from the home surroundings. Nothing special, it's the stay wire for supporting a small rubber plant to grow up straight.
These ropes are made of the fibers from processed coconut husk. Coir factories are so many in Kerala and is a small scale industry here.So many materials other than ropes are made from coir like mattresses, Carpets etc...

" The two forms of water..Clouds and the river beneath"

You may have noticed different colours for clouds. Some are dark and others white.. The white ones are closely packed water droplets. In these types of clouds light cant penetrate into the cloud for the spacing between the drops are too small, and gets reflected back and appears white. Gradually the tiny droplets starts combining together and forms larger drops of water and the spacing becomes larger between water drops.. In such ones the light can penetrate into the cloud and appears dark for the reflection is too low.. When the size of the water drops exceeds a limit it rains....

The Flying White Mountains.A gallery of clouds in various shapes taken with cellphone during a train journey....

The gallery of cloud photos..The photos in this post are taken during a train journey to my home..Unfortunately i had only a mobile camera of 1.3 mega pixel with me..I was sitting by the side window seat and suddenly the pleantiness of clouds in the sky caught my attention. I coudn't help taking these snaps, even though i had my mobile camera only. I abandoned my seat and started clicking standing from the train's door steps.

Don't you know about the formation of these things?? These are condensed air with water vapour. ie cloud formation occurs when the air containing water vapour are cooled below a critical temperature called the Dew Point.....

Its not only the rivers and sea that contribute to the water vapour in the atmosphere, but the trees leaves also relieves vapour from their leaves. Thats why densely forested areas receive good rain due to faster cloud formation.....

The cloud formation occurs gradually, ie they grows in size as time advances. At first they will comprise of tiny micro water droplets. In time being they goes on combining together and at last falls as rain.......

The clouds are classified into groups considering the altitudes they are found. Accordingly they are classified as Cirrus,Cumulus, Nimbuss etc.Most of the clouds in this posting are of low altitude ones, ie the cumulus group...

You may have tasted the bite from these type of ants..If you havn't got its bite try out next time by disturbing an ants nest. You will get a burning feel on your skin, if fortunate enough you will get many burning feels. These people has a reservoir of formic acid in their body, and they secretes the acid on our skin during the bite which results in a burning sensation.

"Is that a spider!"

Do you know that spider venom is many times deadlier than snake venom!!!! But we wont die of a spider bite, for the amount of venom a spider can inject in our body at a time is too small compared to our body weight.There may be exceptions in some species of spiders, i mean there are spiders which can kill a man with its bite.

And one more thing.. each string of a spider web is found out to be many times harder than a steel string of the same diameter. Next time when you watch Spiderman movie don't say that the spider web is not strong enough to lift a bus or stop a train!.

These little creatures are not as innocent as they look, are called little eating machines!!!!Spends most of the time by eating leaves of plants, and they are specific about their food too...Identifies the leaves of flowering plants by the aromatic oils in the leaves.....

Look the variety of colours in the creature!!!, black and flouresent light green lining with red dots...

Can you infer something from the scene??? A fight is going on there!!!!!! Surprised.. The fight for the water drop, between earth's gravity and the force of adhesion, between the water droplets and plant's bud...I think you may have studied about adhesion in your school physics classes....Sorry if i bored you...

The difficulty in taking the snap was getting the water droplet focussed by the camera.. There was bright sunlight behind and the camera was little bit confused about the subject i was trying to focus...

The crocodile bank in madras is a trust founded by Romulus Whitaker and some others in 1976. The bank was founded with the intention of protecting the endangered crocodile species in India- the mugger- Crocodylus paluster, the gharial- Gavialis gangeticus, and the saltwater crocodile- Crocodylus porosus.

The venture started with 30 mugger adults and now have more than 2500 of about 15 crocodile species.

By 1987 the place became the centre for herpatology, India's premier institution for herpetofaunal conservation, research and education.

Besides crocodiles the centre now preseves tortoise, Snakes like King Cobra,Pythons etc..

You know, turtles are one of the oldest reptile groups older than the lizards and reptile groups, about 215 million years old..About 300 species are alive now and some among them in the list of highly endangered..turtles like other reptiles are said to be ecototherms- varying body heat according to surroundings and commonly called coldblooded..These ones don't lay eggs in water, for that they comes to the banks of water bodies and the largest among turtles are aquatic ones..

How To Reach Crocodile Bank:

The place is on the way to the famous archaeological city Mahabalipuram.

The nearest airport is Chennai (42kms)

The nearest railway stations are Chengalpettu(29kms) and Chennai(42kms)

Busses are always available from Pondycherry, Kanchipuram, chengalpettu And Chennai.

Note: Snakes are also there, but havent got enough time to get good snaps..
