Rajamala Munnar | Neelakurinji Flowers Photos

This is the continuation from munnar hillstation gallery photos posted here previously..Want to show you some more pictures on the wild beauty of the hills in mist when is covered in the blue tint of the rarely blooming violet flowers- the neelakurinjys.. Munnar is reportedly the only place it is seen. Their are unconfirmed reports on its presence in some other hills of Kerala also. Anyway Munnar and the Neelakurinjy flowers have great significance in Kerala's Tourism Map

The gallery has some more snaps from the Rajamala (Munnar)......Giving you some scenic views from the mountain tops into the valleys..Scenaries clicked with sonyericsson w series cellphone and nikon coolpix digitalcamera...

We were there by 11 am and the atmosphere was not soo good. There was mild rain. The atmosphere was too misty..hmmmm no wonder..its Munnar!!! Its mist and mist everywhere. The  drizzling rain added fury of the mist.

I think this mini water cascade snap is taken from the bus on our way up to the hill. It was a small spring seen in the roadside.  Fortunate enough to get a clear un-blurred snap.

The atmosphere was too misty in times...Sometimes we wont be able to see the people standing beside us...The sprinkling mild rain was an added advantage for the mist....

Neelakurinjy Flowers in Misty Rajamala
violet flowers of neelakurinjis spreaded on the mountain slopes in rajamala munnar kerala"The Famous and Rare Violet flower Carpet of Munnar....the Neelakurinjis"

These plants are an important part of the flora found here. They flowers in groups and gives the whole mountain a violet colour..It is great rush of tourists in this place when this flower blooms, for it happens only once in 12 years..And in those busy seasons you will have to put more time to visit the places here for it can't be covered in a day..

We got time to visit this single tourist spot only due to great rush of tourists at that time. And one more thing, their are times when the atmospheric temperature goes below 0 degree celcius in Munnar.

The bus service drops us in the bottom of the mountain and we can walk up to the top of this heavenly place...We enjoyed the walk through the mist and sprinkling rain drops. A heavenly atmosphere was prevailing there.Nothing wrong to say 'Heaven On Earth'!!!.

  1. Thanks a lot for the beautiful lines and the pic which you have given in the midst of us. This is one of the best place which is most suited for the tourist to visit during the days of holidays. I am planning to visit Munnar from Mumbai to Kerala in the month of march in the coming year.
