Photos Of Kerala's Largest Archaeological Museum- Hill Palace /Cochin.Images of spotted deers, palace premises, big old copper tumbler etc photographed

Hi there. Presenting you with some more pictures on the hill palace of Cochin/ Kerala..If you want to go for an archaeological tour in India it will be a loss if you miss this palace...

A little away from the busiest IT city of Kerala..Ernakulam this palace is situated in the calm and quiet place named Thripunithura which is not more than a 30minutes journey from Ernakulam, hmm if traffic permits you...

Renowned as Kerala's largest Archaeological museum, once was the administrative center of the Kingdom of Cochin..This palace was built by the Maharaja Of Cochin in the year of 1865 and was later handed over to the government of kerala by the Royal family of Cochin.... After a few years it was taken over by the Department of Archeology and converted into museum..

The vast building which extends over 50 acres, is built in the traditional architecture style ..You may have heard about 'Nalukettu' the traditional building style of Kerala, where their are four halls connected like a rectangle with a center common courtyard opening to sky....
But this palace is in the 'Ettukettu' Architecture style which has eight halls connected together with two common courtyards..

The palace is having a vast museum on the traditional wealth of Kerala, and valuables from the royal family of Cochin. A deer park, children's park, and a nice garden which covers the slope of the hill in an orderly layered manner with so many trees, herbs, flowering plants, lawns and a pond adjacent to the palace..

The garden, to be precise is a botanical garden and has medicinal herbs and trees brought from countries like Central America and Australia..

The most popular attraction here in hillpalace is the Royal throne called as Simhasanam in Malayalam, the language of Keralites..

The museum has so many valuable articles used by the ancient rulers and royal family members of Kerala like weapons, crowns, gold and silver coins, gold utensils, presents the Raja got from the foreigners and so many invaluable things... so naturally the palace and museum is under strict security and photography is prohibited inside the Palace...

I have photographed a few shots outside the palace and can we have a look!!..Photos of Deers in the park, spotted and non spotted deers, Huge copper tumbler photo, Palace surroundings, the old archaeological palace of Kerala photos......

deers in the deer park of hill palace cochin keralaI tried to make them say CHEEESE.. what to do, they like eating rather posing!! it seemed a food eating competition going on....

We happened to be in the palace by evening and it was time of feeding the deers... And fortunately the leaves were put very near to the fence and we got to watch them this closer...

The deer park here in the palace is maintained properly and its nice to watch these creatures much closer.. You may notice their pitch black glittering eyes so cute, when they look at you...Deers seen here seemed not that afraid to presence of people around them....sort of used to human presence..

hill palace cochin kerala, steps leading to the hill top where the old palace is situatedI wish, if i would have counted them!!!! Steps to the museum of our ancestral belongings.....

View from the bottom of starting of the steps.. Truly speaking bottom of the hill...You know the palace museum has about 14 galleries comprising of paintings, inscriptions, mural arts, ornament gallery, royal furniture and belongings, weaponry, royal carriages and much more.....About 200 antiques pottery pieces are preserved in the museum..

palace building front view, photograph of one of the old palaces used by royal family of cochin in keralaOnly a Piece of the Vast building........The front building side view...

You know what!! this museum has the fame of India's first heritage museum...But the place is famed more in our state through movies for many famous movies got shot here..Like Manichitratazhu starred by Mohanlal, which inturn was remaked into tamil as Chandramukhi starred by Rajanikanth..

Due to the movies huge success in both languages it got again remaked into hindi named 'Bhool Bhulayia' starred by Akshay Kumar..

big copper vessel near the hill palace pond, called as kuttakom in malayalam language of kerala, tumbler made of alloy of copperHmm what about using it as a Bath Tub..Just find a way to get in and out .........

The huge copper tumbler is above 4feet in height.. Guess was used to fill water and to use at night times instead of going into the pond for water.. i guessed so for its placed near to the pond..

Nothing much special to say about it than it is much bigger to get stolen....Hmm that may the reason for no security around....

spotted deers photograph from the old palace deers park in india keralaFood Eating Competition..heat is still On...

Seems the competition is a mixed sex event..You can see deers with horns or antlers and without them. The with horns ones are males usually and the without ones are females..

Its said that most species of deers shed their antlers after the mating season... And some studies proved that these antlers can act as better hearing aids also, for the animal having them....

Thanx for the visit
