Tourists enjoying the milky white Water Falls of Athirapally. Sure about they are getting that cool feeling of the water droplets splashing over from the falls. The waterfalls and the surroundings are always watched out by forest guards and they keeps directing the tourists coming here regarding the safety measures to be taken.

You have to obey their words if you care for your life. The guards are so keen that hardly any accidents happened here for years.

This is the place where you may be directed first by the Guards here in Athirapally. You are allowed go a little more nearer to the falls if the season is not the Monsoons. Guards will allow river bath in a safe place a few meters above this falls. But if it the time of monsoon, no way.I think you also may not be willing to take a bath in a roaring violent stream of river.

  •  How to reach Athirapally?
The Waterfalls is in Athirapally panchayat in Thrissur District of  Kerala- the south western state of India.

The nearest Railway Station is in Chalakudy and is about 30 kms from this tourist spot. you can take either a taxi car or private service buses from the bust terminal here in Chalakudi.Enjoy the ride when your vehicle traverses through the windy hill roads and lush green rain forest.

Athirapally is on the road route connecting Tamilnadu and Kerala, and if you are coming from Tamilnadu you will witness much wildlife for the road is through the dense rain forest. The forest is rich in varities of wild life starting from the biggest- elephants , leapords, sambars, procupine, sloth bears, Nilgiri Langurs, deers, hornbills etc. Advisable to avoid the night journey through the road, for the wild life may or mayn't like you.

Cochin International airport is about 55 Kms from here. From Cochin town its about 78 Kms to Athirapilly.

  • Athirapally Visiting Time?
Its from morning 8 to evening 6. Tourist entry to the waterfalls and respective areas is restricted by pass costing a meare amount of money. Forest guards are all over for taking care of you.

  • Season to Visit Athirapally falls?
The beast season to visit this waterfalls is from june to September, i during the monsoons when you can see the river in its full strength and fury. A problem during the time is you won't be allowed to go that near to the falls as we can go in other times when the water level is low. Guards restricts the visitors with ropes.
The waterfalls and the place around is plastic free zone, so try not to take any plastic materials in and offend the nature here.Feeding the wildlife is restricted.
Liquor and smoking is strictly prohibited.
Swimming is restricted in the falls.

  6. Athirappilly is popular among tourists. Athirappilly Falls is one of the best places to visit in Kerala. Another popular waterfall to visit is the Vazhachal Falls. Athirappilly Falls is a part of Chalakudy river and it is approximately 80 feet in height. Athirappilly is easily reachable from Chalakudy by taking a vehicle for rent or by bus from the Chalakudy private bus terminal.

Proper precautions are taken on site to prevent mishaps while swimming and a police camp is always positioned there. Athirappilly is situated on SH-21 highway connecting Tamil Nadu and Kerala, night driving is not advised. But you can enjoy the adventurous drive in the middle of jungle.http://www.athirapally.co.in
